Week #3 Proverbs Recap

For the book of Proverbs I will not do a summary of each chapter. However, I will list which scriptures really spoke to me.

For this weeks bible challenge we were to read:

Proverbs 10-12

I took down a list of scriptures that really communicated with my spirit. Granted it’s hard to say that, because the entire word of God is awesome… But these are a few that stuck out to me.

Proverbs 10

:1 — The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

:5– He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.  (You know this made me think of the ants lol)

:12– Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

:13 —In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding. (Sorry, but I think about discipline here….;))

:16 —The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin. (Which sin are you bearing: righteous or wicked fruit?)

:22 — The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. (This is a reminder that the things – not only speaking materialistically – but when the Lord blesses us we should be ashamed or regret that He did.

:27 — The fear of the Lord prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

:30– The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth. (Aww man — such an awesome scripture! I just think about the Millennium Reign, and the New Heaven and the New Earth! Oh, what a great time that will be!)

:32– The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.

Genesis 2 Overview:

Chapter 2 begins with the Heavens and Earth finished. The 7th day God resting, and sanctifying it. In verse 5-6 it is said that it had rained on the earth yet, for there was a mist that came up from the earth that watered the whole face of the ground.

The Lord creates man (Adam), planted a Garden in Eden, and out of the ground the Lord made every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (V.9) The Lord Commanded Adam that he could eat from every tree but one.

God creates Eve from Adam.

Despise Not Wisdom and Instruction

This speaks to my heart. In ways we can be easily offended when others are simply trying to correct us, not condemn us. It’s easy to get offended, but it’s wise to know that receiving instruction shows growth, maturity, and submissiveness.

As Well…..

Don’t allow the person whom the correction is coming from to prevent you from accepting the instruction.

  • We don’t know everything.
  • Our ways and ideas are not always best.
  • Our logic may not make sense to everyone.
  • Sometimes we may be just plain WRONG.

and that’s OK.

Be open to correction, instruction. Be not wise in our own eyes...

For the ways of the Lord are better anyway.

Are You a Virtuous Woman?

Proverbs 18:22, 1 Thessalonians 5:22, Genesis2:20

***Proverbs 31:10-31

So many women are quick to jump on the Proverbs 31 woman bandwagon. However, when looking at the scripture and all the it takes truly BE a proverbs 31 woman…. It takes work!

I have taken a look at the scripture before, but I decided to take look a little deeper into what the passage means to ME. I’ve summed this up in bullet points:

What Exactly is a Proverbs 31 Woman: She is

  •  Invaluable, Cherished, Priceless
  • One whom her husband trusts
  • Submissive
  • Working willingly, Not Lazy
  • Brings good qualities to the household
  • Productive
  • Invests (could be monetary, or time, spiritually etc)
  • Wakes up early to manage the household
  • Strong, fit, healthy
  • Recognizes that what she brings to the home is profitable to the family
  • Not discouraged
  • Always Seeking Godly Pearls
  • Helps and serves the Poor
  • Home is warm and well ran
  • Clothes herself  well
  • Wears the clothing that Christ has draped her in with dignity and authority
  • Her Husband is admired and respected due to her goodness
  • Clothed in strength courage, stability, respect, confidence, dignity, and honesty
  • Careful about what she says, and speaks with wisdom and kindness
  • Isn’t lazy
  • Her children honor and respect her
  • Her husband approves, and adores her
  • All these bullet points are important but nothing is greater than being a Wife who fears God

Taking a look at the list, it’s pretty overwhelming to be completely honest. It shows me how far away from a virtuous woman I truly am.I know that I have some work to do.

But it’s not discouragement, but encouragement.

I know that I can be the woman that God created me to be, if I truly allow God to groom and mold me.

Are you a virtuous woman? Have a virtuous Wife? What are some of your tips?
