Why just pick one….

When you can choose them all….

Galatians 5:22-23

  • Lays out for us the fruit of the Spirit. Every so often, we focus on one and how to execute that one effectively and/or consistently. However, we see that verse 22 points out the word [FRUIT] and not [FRUITS]. Which leads me to believe that all 9 (Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, meekness, temperance, goodness, and faith) form one fruit! Which is a great correlation to scriptures which speak of one spirit, one body, on faith, and one baptism. (Ephesians 4:4-6)

  • I challenge you (along with myself) to demonstrate the Fruit of the Spirit through the power of the Holy Ghost!

Word of the Day: Speak Life

Luke 6:45

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

Live Peaceably

“Live Peaceably with ALL men”

(Romans 12:18)

Peacemaker: noun. A person who brings about peace, especially by reconciling adversaries.

Synonyms: arbitrator, arbiter, mediator, negotiator, conciliator, go-between, intermediary, pacifier, appeaser, peacemonger, pacifist, peace-lover, dove, peacenik

Peace: noun. freedom from disturbance; quiet and tranquility: freedom from or the cessation of war or violence:

Synonyms: Harmony, agreement, love, friendship, union, unity, conciliation.

Scripture: Matthew 5:9

“Blessed are the Peacemakers, for they shall be called the Children on God.”

We can’t be children of God when we are causing discord, confusion, or fighting.

Is this saying, that you can’t be angry? No, in fact, the bible says to be angry and sin not. But just because the bible says that we CAN be angry, doesn’t mean that we should live a lifestyle of being angry at EVERYTHING.

It’s not uncommon for brothers and sisters in Christ to have an disagreement. However, it’s certain ways to address those situations.

According to Scripture, the bible tells us that we should go to a brother or sister in Christ in private and address our issues with them. We should also come to them in a manner of  meekness considering ourselves….

A lot of times, when people have offended us we are quick to anger of quick to give the person a “piece of our mind”. But this is incorrect. In fact, we should be slow to anger, and we definitely shouldn’t be jumping to spill from our lips the first thing that comes to our mind in the instant that we are offended. For we know that most of the time the 1st thing that comes to mind probably isn’t Holy, or acceptable unto Christ.

God tells us to be HOLY in ALL manner of CONVERSATION -1 Peter 1:15

A SOFT answer turns away wrath, but a HARSH word stirs up anger- Proverbs 15:1

Let us be QUICK to forgive our brethren as well.

You may say, but that is easier said, than done. Yes, that may be the case, however, forgiveness is ESSENTIAL to being forgiven ourselves….

Don’t believe me? Let’s look at the Lords prayer…

(Matthew 6:9-13)

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

It’s clear that we must forgive others.

If you are still having trouble forgiving your brother for something that they have done against you, go to God. Ask Him for the strength and the guidance to forgive. We know that His strength is made perfect in weakness. There’s no reason to come to God acting as if we have it all together. Be transparent with God (He knows it all anyway), but the more you are transparent with Him, the more He is able to work with and through you.

Let’s look at 2 Timothy 2:24-26. For this Scripture tells us who we should be:

  • Must not be quarrelsome
  • Be Gentle to EVERYONE
  • Able to Teach
  • Patient
  • Patiently enduring evil
  • Correcting others with meekness/gentleness

What are some ways you go about insuring that you are peaceable with all men? Or is it something you’re still struggling with? What are some tips for people struggle with this?

Proverbs a Day….. p(1)

Wisdom for Everyday Living

Here I would like to focus on particular verses from Proverbs and *APPLY* them to our lives.  God gave Solomon wisdom, let us USE the wisdom given to live lives pleasing and acceptable to God.

Three different translations of the same scripture

Conclusion: It would be wise to listen to God. For the security in listening to God is SECURITY, and PEACE without fear of the wiles of the enemy or fear of what the enemy tries to do you.

When I think about security in God. I think about:

  • Financial Security: I will Always have what I need.
  • Spiritual Security: The Lord is my protection from any attacks spiritually. I don’t have to worry about my soul being condemned.
  • Mental Security: My mind is protected from confusion, double-mindedness, illness. But I have a sound mind.
  • Home Security: Knowing that my home is covered in the blood of Jesus. I am in peace.
  • Job Security: Same as above, I will always have what  I need. The Lord provides.
  • Marriage Security: I don’t have to worry about the marriage being torn apart, because Christ is the center, and what God has put together let no man put asunder.
  • Identity Security: Knowing who I am in Christ, not allowing what is on TV, magazines, or social media to define who I am as a woman.

When I think about Peace in God, I think about:

  • Peace in the midst of the storm: Being in the midst of circumstances that are not always  likeable, admirable, but  hard, and severe and having the peace of God to withstand and come out of the storm untouched, un-bothered, no bones broken (spiritually). Glorifying Christ Jesus from beginning to end.

The application of this scripture comes in knowing that if I listen to the Lord I can look forward to receiving all the things listed above. Don’t you?

Your Turn:

How does this scripture apply to your life?

When you see Peace in God or Security in God what do you think about?
