Be a Good Steward

Colossians 3:23

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;”

Luke 12:42-46

“And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?

43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

44 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.

45 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;

46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.”

Luke 14:28

For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?”

Luke 16:10-12 “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if ye have not be faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?

Define Steward:

Steward: a person who manages another’s property or financial affairs; one who administers anything as the agent of another or others.

Synonyms: Manager, representative, minister

Let us ask ourselves

Are we good stewards of our time?

Are being productive or just busy? What are we doing with the time the Lord is giving us? Are we spending it binge watching tv shows; movies; YouTube videos/tutorials etc. Or our we planning, investing our time, counting the cost, praying, studying, in worship?

What about our conversations?

Do we spend our time engaged in idle conversations – those that are not edifying, uplifting progressive? Our we gossiping, complaining, arguing, or just stuck in conversations that are barren; dry; producing no fruit?

What about our money?

Are we wise with our finances? Regardless if we have a lot of a little…. How can God give us more if we are irresponsible and rash with what he has already given to us? Are we saving, investing?

Do we spend our time wishing that we had other gifts and talents based off of what other people have, and as a result abandoning the gifts/talents that we already have?  Unsure of what your talent/gift is? Ask God to reveal it to you! A lot of times it has something to do with what you already have a passion doing.

Dreams and Goals?

What are we doing to make sure that we achieve these goals? Are we counting the cost? Planing? Making a list, making it plain? Or do you just dream without action, somehow hoping that they come true without any effort put forth.

The word of God?

Yes we read/study the word of God. Some of attend worship services, and bible studies – hearing the word. However, what are we doing WITH the word? Are we good stewards with what we hear and read? Are we applying it to our life? Are we offering it to others. Or do we allow it to fall on stony ground baring nothing? Do we allow it to be stolen by the enemy before it is planted? Or do we allow it to be written on the tablets of our hearts, making sure that we sin not against our father?

Stewardship – it’s something to think about – meditate on.

Is God able to trust us with what he has already given us?

Are we responsible?
